K Design Co: Organic traffic and revenue growth

Client overview

K Design Co is a branding and web design studio led by Kristin, a designer with over 15 years of experience helping businesses create legacy-building brands. Prior to working together, Kristin had already built solid rankings across topics in branding, Showit, and website design.

The challenge

When Kristin approached us for 1:1 SEO coaching, she was looking to take her website’s organic visibility to the next level. It long had a good foundation, but organic traffic had stayed stagnant at roughly 500 Google organic visits per month.

Kristin wanted personalized SEO guidance to:

  • Scale organic rankings and traffic, and build up topical authority in her niche
  • Improve keyword rankings for existing content
  • Align her content assets to better support product revenue and increase organic sales from her website template shop.

Results

Within the first 4–5 weeks, Kristin’s site began to see strong organic traction, with daily traffic growth.

Over the course of 6 months, organic traffic grew 10x, rising from roughly 500 to 5,000 monthly visits as keyword rankings improved across her blog content. This helped drive more qualified traffic to the website and led to a 25% increase in digital product sales.

Results continued to compound into 2024 with the site averaging ~27,000 organic visits per month and ranking for 18,000+ keywords across branding, Showit, and web design topics. The site gained more visibility for both educational and product-led keywords.

SEO project summary

We knew K Design Co had a strong domain authority and existing content depth, so our SEO strategy focused on optimizing and organizing its existing content assets rather than starting from scratch.

Our main focus areas:

  • Accelerate organic growth by improving existing rankings and gaining new traffic
  • Prioritize high traffic articles already ranking on pages 1-2
  • Amplify content development and tap into new content topics
  • Improve content quality and on-page SEO to move up the ranks on Google
  • Understand the organic traffic funnel and optimize for product conversions

1. Content architecture

We organized Kristin’s existing blog posts into topical content hubs to make the site easier to navigate and to show both users and search engines what each core content pillar was all about.

For each blog post, we looked at user intent and where it fit in the funnel—mapping articles for awareness, consideration, and content pages could lead to a purchase. This made it easier to prioritize updates and optimizations for pages that could really move the needle in terms of traffic and conversions.

2. Keyword mapping and selection

We went through every important blog and product category, and assigned a primary keyword based on three things. First, search volume. How many people were actually searching for the keyword topic. Second, business value. Whether it made sense for Kristin’s audience and moved people through to her high-value Showit website templates.

Third, keyword difficulty. Whether the site had a realistic shot at ranking on Google’s first page for it.

Doing this helped us figure out which pages to optimize first, so we could focus on blog posts that had the highest upside for traffic growth and ultimately, product revenue.

3. On-page and content improvements

Once we had her keyword targets mapped, we moved into the foundational SEO work. This included improving titles, meta descriptions, and headings. For each page, we made sure the primary keyword appeared in the introduction, along with relevant contextual words and phrases.

We aimed for a balanced keyword density of 0.5% – 3%, ensuring we were using her target keywords sufficiently.

Beyond on-page SEO and keyword placement, we worked on content quality. We beefed up the content so her article’s topical depth could compete with top-ranking pages in the Showit and website design niche.

This was the most time- and effort-intensive part of the process, but I think it made the most difference in moving up the ranks on Google. Some of the blog posts with the highest traffic uplift were the Canva font pairings and brand kit examples.

4. CTR and optimizing the SERP snippet

We knew that titles and meta descriptions played a huge role in getting people to click through from search results. Using Google Search Console, we looked for pages that were getting a lot of impressions but a low click-through rate (CTR).

We reworked titles and meta descriptions, and analyzed keyword search phrases that were bolded in SERPs.

5. Content to conversion optimization

Later on, we dug into Google Analytics to see how visitors were moving through her site—from blog posts to product pages. This helped us understand which content pages were driving people closer to Kristin’s digital products, and what those referring pages were that people resonated with.
